Henry G. Acres

A 20th century renaissance man

This annual event is dedicated to the memory of Henry Acres, a visionary and pioneering engineer in the hydropower field whose contributions to Canada and the world was of major significance.

Our technical expertise has deep roots, beginning in 1903 when Henry Acres engineered the first-of-its-kind and world’s largest 10,000hp turbine at the Niagara Power Station. For the past 56 years, we have honored his legacy by continuously advancing our technical capabilities and upholding the high standards he set.

From pioneering vast power projects globally to pushing to develop smarter solutions, as an industry we have kept a well-trained eye on the future. We have a long history of providing innovative, sustainable approaches and solutions in the energy industry, officially dating back to the founding of the H.G. Acres engineering consulting company in 1924 and Hatch in 1962.

Through relentless dedication to excellence and a commitment to innovation, we have built a reputation for delivering cutting-edge solutions that stand the test of time. Henry Acres’ pioneering spirit lives on in our Energy team, on every project we undertake, and drives us to push the boundaries of what’s possible.

We are proud to continue this more than 100-year legacy of success.
