Biography
Power system engineer with over eight years of experience working in different companies within the electrical industry and academia. Primarily focused on power and energy systems. Alireza has been engaged in several projects that involved system studies for non-integrated distribution systems as well as transmission lines and substations ranging from 69 kV to 765 kV. He has been in several VSC-HVDC, optimal battery allocation, and battery hosting capacity projects as well.
Alireza works as Hatch’s system studies lead for the BC Hydro Microgrid and MISO Transmission Planning projects. He has led and managed several projects in these regions, as well as the PJM and SPP regions. These projects included steady state contingency analysis, cascaded N-1 analysis, CIP-14 compliance, PJM FERC-715 compliance, dynamic stability analysis, line energization, line switching, reactor switching, line reactor sizing, line series compensators, Ferranti effect analysis, Generator Deliverability analysis, Power-Voltage (PV) analysis, proportional scale power transfer analysis, and short circuit studies.
Alireza is familiar with PSCAD, MATLAB-Simulink, PSLF, PSSE, CYME, ASPEN Oneliner, and TARA. He is currently registered as a P.Eng with Engineers Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC). He is also Canada’s Member on CIGRE WG C4.74 – Accurate Line and Cable Models for Steady-State and Transient Studies.
