Biography

Emily identifies as she/her, is a daughter, mother, aunt, a settler, and immigrant who speaks three languages, and is a proud Canadian who has privately sponsored refugee families from Kosovo and Syria. She is a graduate of Brock University and her academic work focused on the motivation and achievement levels of immigrants. Emily is a former heritage language teacher and someone with a distinguished career working with Toronto’s homeless sector for nineteen years in various positions from front line to management, to health care system redesign, quality assurance, procurement, contract management, including supporting the development of twenty-two large-scale shelter infrastructure projects.  

Emily took the role of CEO at the Niagara Folk Arts Multicultural Centre in 2018. She brings in-depth knowledge of the municipal role in providing emergency social services, provincial and federal legislation, and experience with inter-agency collaboration within Ontario.
