How transmission can enable successful hydropower projects
To enable the energy transformation, it is understood that a tremendous amount of new generation is required, of which hydro generation should play a major role in. In order to harness this generation, which is often located a considerable distance from the loads, and to provide the grid the with capacity it needs to deliver this energy, new transmission needs to be developed, with technologies such as dynamic line ratings and HVDC leading the way. We will discuss how transmission can enable generation projects, and provide an overall increase in resilience and reliability.
