Community engagement and social risk panel discussion

Community engagement and social risk panel discussion

Communities increasingly expect to be engaged and consulted on decisions regarding the future of energy generation, whether it be new greenfield project development, or upgrades of existing infrastructure. In Ontario, specifically, new procurement contracts under the IESO have specific requirements for engagement with local communities and municipal support, and points are awarded for partnership with Indigenous communities/ This is all expected to be achieved prior to understanding the certainty that a project will move forward. Contracts are also conditional on proponents’ abilities to achieve commercial operation on a tight schedule in order to meet increasing demand.

Relationships with communities, including Indigenous communities, take time and resources.

How can proponents build meaningful relationships while balancing expectations and making investment decisions, while driving toward aggressive schedule requirements with so much uncertainty?

In this panel discussion, we’ll dive into these challenges and share insights on how to collaborate with communities while achieving project success.
